hello, Hello, Hello
Throughout the 1970's and 80's, Bill Horleman was the top rated radio disc jockey in Delaware. Known in Wilmington by his opening tagline, Hello, Hello, Hello explores Horleman's life, legacy, and the evolving role of radio in the final decades of the 20th century.
Created during my time at The College of New Jersey, this documentary was a foray into the world of blending archival footage and stills with modern interviews. Throughout this process I fell in love with the nostalgic, imperfect feel of film, and wanted this retro aesthetic to permeate the project at large. Working with archival footage also presented a unique array of challenges; I notably needed to become extra creative in the editing studio as shooting supplemental b-roll wasn’t a possibility.
This project was screened at The College of New Jersey’s 2021 ‘AIMM After Dark’ event.
