Nocturnal predators
My senior capstone at The College of New Jersey, Nocturnal Predators pushed me outside my comfort zone throughout the production process. A documentary-style editor at heart, this project asked me to dust off my cinematic editing skills and create something stylistically removed from much of my other work.
This project also marked a departure from the creative process I’d become accustomed to, expanding the team I was working alongside and focusing my role in production. While I was present on set alongside our actors and crew, my main contribution was working with the film’s director to ensure edits and sound design aligned with her creative vision.
The ultimate lesson of Nocturnal Predators for me was one of collaboration and restraint. Despite initially experimenting with faster pacing and more cuts, I quickly realized the film flowed more naturally when the editing took a backseat to the writing and performances of my talented peers.
